Fabric Capacity or Power BI Embedded

Capacity Management

PowerBI Robots supports Power BI Embedded or Microsoft Fabric. To use it, you must authenticate with Service Principal. Please make sure you follow these steps:

Add PowerBI Robots as a capacity administrator in your capacity subscription

• To allow Power BI Robots to manage your capacity Subscription, you must add your own Azure App as a capacity administrator in Azure Portal. You must assign your Azure App the "Contributor" role in your capacity.

Configure the capacity in the PowerBI Robots Agent

Microsoft Fabric

• Under Microsoft Power BI Capacity Management, choose Fabric provider and fill in the required Microsoft Fabric fields and authenticate using the Service Principal option.

• Enable Microsoft Fabric capacity management in your Playlist

Under the General tab of the playlist configuration, enable the 'Allow PowerBI Robots to manage your Power BI Embedded/Fabric capacity usage' option. With this option enabled, PowerBI Robots will automatically resume the Microsoft Fabric capacity before running the playlist and pause it afterward.

Power BI Embedded

Under Microsoft Power BI Capacity Management, choose Power BI Embedded provider and fill in the required Microsoft Fabric fields and authenticate using the Service Principal option.

Set your Playlist to use Power BI Embedded management

Under the "General" tab in the playlist configuration, enable the 'Allow PowerBI Robots to manage your Power BI Embedded/Fabric capacity usage. With this option enabled, PowerBI Robots will automatically resume the Power BI Embedded service before running the playlist and pause it afterward.
